Hector Fratty’s entire career has been in vehicle lighting. From 1995 to 2006, he was Valeo Lighting Systems’ chief of R&D, managing a staff of 650 engineers and technicians and a budget of over €70m. His level of expertise in lighting gained him recognition as one of Valeo’s 5 Master Experts. He headed the Valeo Lighting Expert Committee through March 2008.

Hector Fratty presides over the biennial VISION Congress international vehicle lighting and driver assistance symposium. He is also a member of the ISAL steering committee, which guides and administers the ISAL international symposium on automotive lighting organized by TU Darmstadt.

He founded and is now managing director of Driving Vision News (DVN), the vehicle lighting, ADAS and car smart interior industry’s journal of record, dedicated to keeping the involved community informed and communicating about the latest progress and developments.

Wolfgang studied from 1981 to 1986 Electrical Engineering at the TU Darmstadt.

From 1987 to the end of 2000, he was with BMW. He started as lighting engineer, later he was head of develpoment lighting and head of production planning Electrics / Eletronics. In 1999 he got the PHD at TU Darmstadt, Lighting institute, which is a part of Eletronics and IT.

From 2001 to the end of 2020 he worked for Audi as executive director development lighting and switches, later development lighting and vision systems, including the lead engineer position of the Volkswagen group in this field.

In 2021 he early retired and started at DVN as a senior consultant. He is still chairman of the GTB working group strategy.

Dr Huhn is one of the foremost worldwide mangers in automotive lighting and has greatly influenced the evolution of lighting technologies. He got two important awards: In 2011 the « Professor Ferdinand Porsche Award » for the introduction of the Audi R8 full LED-headlamp (together with Kamoislaw Fadel from AL), University Vienna Austria and also in 2011 the « Man of the decade », DVN Paris.
